Takayama is the smallest city we will stay in with about
80,000 people. It is easy to navigate and has a quaint city center with an
historic district.
It is located in the mountains of northwestern Honshu
in what is called the Japanese Alps. It looks a lot like New Hampshire but the mountains are a little more rugged.
